The heroine awakes with no memories before august 1st; everything, from the life she lived to the relationships she had, is gone from her mind.
a young boy named orion appeared in front of her, reffering to himself as a spirit. under his guidance, she begins the struggle to regain her memories.
now, she is met with a boyfriend whose name and face she doesn't recognize, in a position where who to trust is uncertain.
the heroine must move in a way that her memory loss remains undetected by her partner.
amnesia was the first otoge i played after getting my laptop, and boy oh boy was it a fucking drag. i played it alongside subahibi as a sort of
mental refresher so that way i wouldnt be freaked out all night after quitting subahibi, but admittedly, amnesia is also.. like, really creepy. it depends on the
route, of course; i first played shin's route, and it was just a bit unsettling, but toma's route?
i played toma's route very recently as i write this, to attempt to redeem the series in my mind; i found that shin's route was insanely boring and he was kind of too twinkish for me (also younger than mc, which i didnt really like). toma's route is hyped up to be a super crazy yandere romance and i used to be a pregame shuichi fan, so obviously i love that shit. but don't be fooled. this is not the fucked up otoge you might think it is; the cage is really crazy, but the ending (without spoiling it) is so. so... bad. it ruins everything that the yandere toma thing had set up, and redeems him, which im sure is great if you like toma and like normal guys.. but i really don't and i fund that the ending just fucked up the story and toma's character.
ok. onto my opinions on the story... amnesia is really popular, but for a change i really dont understand why. it took me about 1 day, give or take, to finish toma's good end, and first of all, for a mainline game, that's really bad. most otoge take me at least two days to finish, but more often they take me up to a week. THAT BEING SAID! the story of toma's route is, for most of the story, really interesting and shocking. but... that being said, i found myself more drawn to ukyo than toma, which kind of bugged me considering i was supposed to be falling for toma? but i guess that's just because i like creepy guys like ukyo.
anyways. don't play amnesia. or do, but it's so anticlimatic and boring that i don't think it's worth spending even just a day playing. it felt like a total waste of my time.
