Cardia lives day to day isolated from the world in a restricted, abandoned mansion.
Her body carries a deadly poison that rots or melts anything that her skin touches, causing the locals to call her a monster.
One day, the Royal Guards break in to capture her.
That's when she meets the chivalrous thief Arsène Lupin, who helps her escape them.
She then finds herself on a journey with Lupin and his gang to locate her father and find a way to remove the poison from her body.
code realize has been a game on my to-play list for so long... admittedly, just because impey is really similar to kazuichi (they're both engineers/mechanics, both have long red/pink hair.. yeah). at first i was kind of iffy on the game; the characters werent that attractive and the art style wasn't my thing, as i prefer stories with darker themes and styles and code realize has a very traditional 2015-2025 otoge art style.. as well, it's steampunk and all the characters have really ridiculous names.
don't let this stop you. it's such a funny otoge regardless of how tropey it is and it's really, really well written. i played impeys route (predictably.. i'm weak for red haired characters) and it certainly was.. not what i expected? i was expecting a very fluffy and jokey story like mineo's route in cxm, but impey's route was. really serious? really well written? really like. god. i was so flabbergasted at the plot twist.
anyways. i always love stories that have a big friend group in them, like in mha or persona, and it's very similar here with code realize; the characters all are three dimensional and well written, each with their own dynamics and motives. often i was curious about the stories of the other routes, because i was invested in more than just my chosen LI's story.
as well, if you're on vita, code realize is a really perfect pick for an otoge, as, unlike with other otoge, there are two official fandiscs available in english for vita!
anyways, i'd reccomend this otoge. it was a bit too tense at times for me, which is why i knocked off half a point, but besides that, it's a really sweet story with really lovable LI's and love stories that don't feel as boring and predictable as most other otoge. not to mention, it's incredibly angsty!

Impey Barbicane
love interest of choice...
impey is the butt of almost all the jokes in code:realize and, generally, is the most chalant of all the love interests; easily excitable, slightly childish,
and endlessly devoted to cardia. from the moment he meets her, he's constantly flirting with her, his self confidence unwavering despite how many times she rejects him;
he states, with as much certainty as he does when talking about going to the moon, that he will one day marry her.
impey barbicane is a genius engineer and incredible cook. he cooks almost all the meals for lupin's gang while they stay at saint-germain's estate, and is reliable for making
all sorts of weapons and gadgets, from buttons that do nothing to remodelling entire airships. he is dead set on one day flying to the moon, and hopes to take cardia with him.
in future blessings, impey is hired by the queen to work on a submarine, proving that his skills have no limits.
