ensemble stars!! music is a japanese gacha mobile game centered around 49 (mostly) male idols, each in one of 15 idol groups under 4 different labels. while the game has two iterations (!! music & !! basic) as well as
a previous, discontinued version (ensemble stars!), the game i play is ensemble stars!! music, on the english servers.the game follows you, the producer (you can set your own name), as you help the idols of ensemble square, both through playing lives (rhythm game), decorating your office with 1-4 of your selected idols, or play through the story of the game (visual novel). it's a multimedia project that's been around since 2015, though es!!music and basic have only existed since 2020.
with such a vast selection of characters, it's pretty popular and there's a character for almost everyone.

i've played enstars since 2021, though i only recently got back into it in march 2025 after oomf forced me to download it. i tend to get bored of characters really, really fast, so the wide amount of characters to choose from in es is a
big bonus for me. a lot of fans of the game care about the stories, personally idgaf about the stories and i mostly play for the music and rhythm game, but i also really like the gacha system and events, as well as the office aspect. getting
to decorate a office, play songs, and gamble for different anime characters is everything i want in a game, plus a lot of the characters are really funny and the fandom is rly rly silly even though im not that involved in it.
when i began playing enstars, i was in 8th grade and a big toriP, but since then i've switched up a lot and mostly focus on mayoi/alkaloid. but you can see all my favorite characters if you scroll down a bit, i have a whole section for them!
while this is a shrine, it's not like the other ones i've made. i struggled a lot with planning how i was gonna design this page because ensemble stars is an ongoing online game and not just a tv show or a game with a beginning and ending like persona. thus, i added a section to keep track of my card collection like i did with my seiyuu page and i also added a section to gush about my favs. i feel like that works for a shrine that's not for a traditional piece of media.
anyway. i plan to keep updating this as my collection of cards and my favs change with time, but for now, you can click on any of the cards below to view their full stats and whatnot. i feel like it's hard to make that aspect of the page clear so i'll just tell you now! i worked super freaking hard on the card collection's javascript and data so. yeah.

mayoi ayase has been my favorite ensemble stars character since 2021 and that never really changed for me. i remember in 2021 i got into a fight on discord because i was upset they were changing her character from being timid to being confident and someone
thought that was problematic which i still find kind of funny.. like let me love my timid weird characters in peace!!
anyways. i'll introduce mayoi now. she's a member of alkaloid (which is my fav unit in es), and just a total weirdo; she like hiding out in the shadows and is often in secret hiding spots of the es building, i don't know if i'm remembering this correctly but for a time she was essentially squatting at the es building which is soo silly. she's a member of the ninja club with shinobu from akatsuki, and she calls him chieftan. she also loves anything cute and "pure" because she herself feels impure and believes herself to be subhuman. basically she has really low self-esteem.
despite that, she's really nice and generous and whatnot. she shares her knowledge of the secret rooms and passageways of the es building with those who ask, and cares a lot about her band members. she tries really hard to be a good person despite her flaws but even with her flaws she's so adorable and i just love her so much
as someone with ocd i headcanon mayoi as also having ocd, since she often voices her intrusive thoughts by accident, such as wanting to slip supplements into people's drinks and such. i struggle a lot with impulse control and ocd (not together, though) so i find her to be really relatable. her insanely low self esteem is also something i identify with. she's really hot and gorgeous and cute but i find that half of the appeal of her character comes from just how relatable she is to me.

similarly to mayoi (i wrote her description first.. oops) rinne's been my favorite character since 2021, too. at the time i had a real affinity for eccentric bad-boy types, and i feel rinne is probably
a prime example of such an archetype. not to mention he's red haired, and i absolutely love red-haired characters with all my heart! after redownloading enstars this year (2025), rinne was the first 5 star i got
during the first scout you get as a producer. he's a member of crazy:b, which i don't particularly care for, and is really good friends with niki shiina, whos also in crazy:b.
rinne was also the first event 5 star i ever grinded for, not just in enstars but in any game, period. the card i'm specifically talking about is NUMBER of dreams which admittedly i do NOT like that much, but i still couldn't help but get it. the story was also super cute!

koga is the only of my top 3 favs who i haven't been a fan of since 2021; he only really entered my radar after i redownloaded the game. at first, he reminded me a ton
of my glorious king katsuki bakugo, but after playing enstars a bit longer i realized i was kind of wrong in that regard. anyway, he's a member of the ever-popular group,
undead, and although i could care less about undead, i love koga so much!
about him, i guess what drew me to him more than anything was how he's about as anti-conformist (punk?) as any anime idol from a gacha game can get. he joined undead to produce actual rock music and although obviously he's kind of badly written considering the character type he's meant to fit, i still think it's as good as you can get for a "punk" character from such a genre. he obviously talks like a delinquent and is kind of hot-headed and rude which i always love, but he's also literally a furry which is SO FUNNY and also so cute because i love dogs and koga is a self proclaimed wolf. i guess he's more of a therian than a furry but it's less funny to call him that
